This is a true story from the first time I went viral.
I wrote the most stupid post, in an airport, between check-ins and lines of people… my kids screaming all over the place. Posted it, and got on the airplane.
And when I landed…
I saw for the first time 500+ likes to my post.
I was like… wow… didn’t see that coming.
I mean, knew I was good at what I do… but,
I probably never imagined how it will feel like.
The likes kept coming.
The comments didn’t stop.
People who never saw me before in events… suddenly knew my name. Recognized me.
Even said they read what I wrote.
And for a moment, it felt like:
“This is it. I made it.”
And then…
It slowed down.
Silence came back.
And no one prepared you for that part.
Here’s the truth no one talks about:
Going viral is not just a “win” moment.
It’s a psychological event.
Your brain goes through a spike,
And then a drop.
Your brain experiences a sharp dopamine spike, similar to other high stimulation moments
And if you don’t understand what’s happening, you’ll lose the biggest opportunity you just created.
I elaborated on what happens in our brain when going viral in my last post from today
( check the full detailed carousel on my Linkedin page where I break this down. Fresh from the oven ).
But here….I want to tell you my secrets on what actionsyou should take right after going viral.
More practical.
So… what do you actually do after going viral?
1) Comment on every comment. Show appreciation back.
This is not just “engagement,” this is relationship building in real time.
Every person who took the time to comment chose you out of thousands of posts. Acknowledge that.
Don’t just drop a “thank you” and move on.
Reply with intention. Ask a question back. Build a micro connection.
This is how strangers turn into followers, and followers turn into opportunities or real frienships.
The algorithm loves it, but more importantly:
People remember how you made them feel.
2) Go over your messages and comments carefully. This is where the real value is.
After a viral post, your inbox becomes a goldmine.
But most people ignore it or skim through it too quickly.
Slow down. Read every message.
Look for patterns.
Who resonates deeply with your message?
Who is asking for help?
Who could be a potential client, partner, or collaborator?
Viral attention is not about numbers, it’s about identifying the right people inside the noise. This is where business actually starts.
3) Repost your post. Yes, again.
Most people don’t know this, but reposting your own content brings it back to life.
Not everyone saw it the first time.
Not everyone was online.
Not everyone scrolled far enough.
When you repost, you give your content a second (and third+) chance to be discovered. This is not “recycling,” this is distribution.
Do it strategically for a few days while the momentum is still there, and you’ll extend the life of your viral moment.
4) Repeat the pattern. Don’t overcomplicate it.
Your first instinct after going viral is to reinvent yourself.
Don’t. Instead, study what worked.
Was it your story? Your honesty? The way you framed your idea?
That’s your blueprint.
If it came from you, if it was real and authentic, it wasn’t a one-time thing.
You can do it again. Consistency beats creativity when it comes to growth.
Keep showing up in the same voice, with the same truth, and let the repetition build your authority.
5) And lastly, remember: this is just a post.
It matters, but not that much.
It’s not worth your sleep, your peace of mind, or your precious moments in life.
Don’t let one post define your mood, your confidence, or your identity.
You’re building something bigger than a viral moment.
Use it, learn from it, grow from it, but don’t lose yourself in it.
The real win is not the post. It’s the life and business you build around it.
If you take one thing from this:
Going viral doesn’t mean you’re done. It means you just got your biggest chance now.
The question is: what are you going to do with it?
With love,
Anna.
